One way is that he puts the number of days before and after for every chapter in the book. another way he grabs the readers attention is that he pulls readers in by saying that this story is true. the author creates different personalities which is also interesting to readers. And lastly the author grabs your attention by relating it to real life situations do you can connect with what your reading.
